He recalls that while his uncle was not the most successful race horse trainer, he felt that he himself profited from this. He was able to spend quite a bit of time with his uncle and the horses at the stables. While he never had the chance to own a horse, he was able to be around them frequently due to his uncle’s profession as a horseman. It started when he was living in Syracuse and continued as his family moved to NYC.
